Easter Sunday: Thanks To Our Lord

Writer: Pastor Austin BenderPastor Austin Bender

Today is the day we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord & Savior: Jesus Christ!

He was unlawfully convicted, punished, and executed, then being crucified Friday, and 3 days later on this Easter Sunday he has risen. Saturday they chose to put Jesus in the tomb, after they threw a spear into him confirming his death. Then they took his dismembered body and wrapped it in linens and laid Jesus in the tomb, and let the 1 1/2 - 2 ton stone come over the tombs opening.

Sunday morning, still dark Mary Magdalene went to the tomb. She had saw no guards that the Roman’s hired to watch the tomb, and that massive stone of up to 2 tons or maybe more was magically GONE! Not just moved but totally gone and away. The angel came down from the word of God to move the stone, and the angel sat on it. As Mary and the others went closer the Angel said:

Matthew 28:6-7, “He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. 7 And go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going before you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.”

Peter came and walked right inside, and what was found was the linens untouched from Jesus and the handkerchief folded nicely and laid there also. Though, the body of Jesus is gone! He now sits at the right hand of God, our creator!

A few days later, Jesus went to meet some in the upper room, Thomas was there. Thomas didn’t believe, he said I will only believe if I can put my hand on Jesus’ wounds! Well, Jesus gave him the opportunity to touch his wounds, he said Thomas touch me, and have full faith and believe.

So… what can we apply to our lives now, over 2,000 years later……

Well.. thanks to the resurrection of Jesus, and the price that he paid our life shall not be futile, we shall have faith in all things, and our mistakes, and our guilt is not final. We can forever be forgiven through Jesus! All we have to do is ask!

I encourage you to pray this prayer and ask Jesus to come back into your life, repeat this:

God in heaven above, I ask for forgiveness of all my sins and wrong doing, I ask that Jesus come back into my heart. From this day forward I want to live for him and with him, and follow my Lord and savior all the days of my life. Amen 🙏

Happy Easter ❤️‍🔥
